30 Nov Delivering Global Britain: FCO Skills
One of the missions of the BFPG is to provide easy access to relevant UK foreign policy information. As well as publishing our own independent work, we provide a hub of the latest UK foreign policy related publications.
This latest publication by the Foreign Affairs Select Committee is part of the committees Global Britain: FCO Skills Inquiry. This report looks at the range of transferable and non-diplomatic skills that are required by the FCO to succeed over the coming years and how this correlates with the governments Global Britain agenda. In order to do this this publication seeks to cover the following questions and themes:
- What is the FCO For?
- Skills and the purposes of diplomacy
- Career paths.
- Is the FCO an employer that values skills?
- Skills for Global Britain.
By answering these questions and examining these themes, the publication defines skills that are deemed to be a priority for the FCO, examines pay and performance management at the FCO and looks at why language skills are increasingly valuable for the FCO as the UK leaves the EU.
