BFPG Recruitment: Researcher

The BFPG is a small, busy and dynamic organisation with a focus on politically astute, evidence-based research with a constructive approach to advancing the Global Britain project and the UK’s wider strategic interests.

The British Foreign Policy Group is currently recruiting for a Researcher to join our growing team. This is a role that will suit an ambitious early-career researcher, keen to develop a wide range of skills and competencies.

This is a full-time position, based at the BFPG’s offices in Mayfair. Some flexible working arrangements may be possible. We welcome applications from a wide range of fields and backgrounds outside of foreign policy. We are only able to accept applications from those with the right to live and work in the United Kingdom and are unable to provide sponsorship.

Researcher – Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct background and detailed research to briefs to support BFPG projects, across a range of methodologies
  • Conceive of independent research projects relevant to BFPG thematic interests and manage these end-to-end through the publication process
  • Identify and target potential fundraisers to support the BFPG’s work, and build networks with such organisations and individuals
  • Write research proposals from which to seek collaborations and funding support
  • Write blogs and other articles for the BFPG
  • Monitor political and media developments relevant to the BFPG and reporting these back to the Director and the wider team
  • Represent the BFPG regularly at events, workshops, receptions and conferences
  • Conduct media and write media outputs to raise the profile of the BFPG
  • Stakeholder management both within the 23 Grafton St community and external stakeholders across a range of industries
  • Ensure that all BFPG research outputs are delivered to a high standard, by overseeing project schedules, liaising with the production team, and supporting the proofing and editing of work
  • Recruit and manage BFPG interns
  • As required, work alongside other relevant staff to update and manage the BFPG’s website
  • Support the work of the Director through the preparation of background and stakeholder materials
  • If required, oversee project budgeting and financial reporting to the Director
  • Undertaking travel for the BFPG to support its projects and other objectives
  • Other administrations as required.
