Sophia Gaston joins the British Foreign Policy Group

British Foreign Policy Group welcomes new Director

The British Foreign Policy Group is today delighted to welcome our new Director, Sophia Gaston.

Sophia’s background is in social and political research, with a deep grounding in foreign policy. She is also a Research Fellow in the Institute for Global Affairs at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an Academic Fellow at the European Policy Centre in Brussels.

Her work is especially focused on social and political change, populism, the media and democracy – with a focus on threats to governance in Western nations.

Sophia’s recent projects include multi-country studies on rising economic and social insecurity in Europe, the growing political salience of nostalgia, the rise of conspiracy theories, and the consequences of demographic change and intergenerational conflict on transatlantic policy-making environments.

Sophia has previously worked at a number of Westminster based think-tanks, including Demos and the Centre for Cities.

We look forward to working with Sophia at the British Foreign Policy Group as the team moves into a new phase of expansion.
