On 9th May 2019, the BFPG will co-host an event with Open University in Aberystwyth, Wales.

The BBC/OU Co-production, Inside the Foreign Office, captured the extraordinary world of the people working in some of the most complex and sensitive jobs in UK Government. The event will consider the documentary, as well as the direction of future UK foreign policy.

The Open University’s Dr Edward Wastnidge and Dr William Brown worked as academic consultants on the series. They’ll present their contribution to this production and talk about the privileged access the series had to the fascinating world of British diplomats.

We’ll then move to a panel discussion where our OU presenters will be joined by:

Tom Cargill – Executive Director, British Foreign Policy Group

Liane Saunders – Strategy Director and Strategic Programmes Coordinator, Foreign and Commonwealth Office

James Vaughan – Lecturer in International History, International Politics, Aberystwyth University

The panel will take a critical look at foreign policy issues that came out of the BBC series including local, national and international standpoints.  If you can’t make it why not head over to the Facebook page on the day where we will be live!

Doors will open at 6pm, where there will be a reception with light refreshments before the lecture start at 6:30pm.

Gwnaeth cynhyrchiad y BBC/Y Brifysgol Agored, ‘Inside the Foreign Office’, gofnodi byd anhygoel y bobl sy’n gweithio yn rhai o’r swyddi mwyaf cymhleth a sensitif yn Llywodraeth y DU.

Gweithiodd Dr Edward Wastnidge a Dr William Brown o’r Brifysgol Agored fel ymgynghorwyr academaidd ar y gyfres. Byddant yn cyflwyno eu cyfraniad i’r cynhyrchiad hwn ac yn siarad am y cyfle breintiedig a gawsant i gael cipolwg ar fyd diddorol diplomyddion Prydain.
