Transparency in how we are funded is central to our credibility and the integrity of our research.

Our Funding Principles

We accept organisational and project-based funding from institutions, foundations and individuals that share our values and which accept our mandate for full editorial independence.

We believe transparency is essential to the trust and legitimacy of the research sector. Where projects are supported by specific funders, we will always make this clear.

As a fundamental principle, we will not accept funding from those working against the democratic interests of the United Kingdom.

Funding Support

The BFPG was established with initial capital from Strategy International, whose support enabled us to build an independent voice for UK foreign policy research and debate.

Project-Based Partnerships

National Engagement Programme

The National Engagement Programme is delivered in partnership with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. The programme engages stakeholders and citizens across UK towns and cities on the UK's international role and foreign policy choices.

UK Soft Power Group

The BFPG co-convenes the UK Soft Power Group alongside the British Council, bringing together the UK's most treasured soft power assets to explore how to strengthen Britain's international activities.

Science + Soft Power

‍Alongside the Wellcome Trust, BFPG delivered a series of work exploring how the UK's world-leading scientific expertise can strengthen its global influence.

Diplomatic Hour

Diplomatic Hour is BFPG's regular event series for London's Diplomatic Corps, providing an informal forum for senior diplomats, policymakers and researchers to engage on current foreign policy challenges.
