UK-France diplomatic reset ‘not high on agenda’ after Macron victory - Shropshire Star
Director of the British Foreign Policy Group, Sophia Gaston, spoke to the Shropshire Star on UK-France relations following President Macron's electoral victory.
Sophia Gaston discussed relations between the UK and France following President Macron's visit to London ahead of the 80th anniversary of D-Day. She said a diplomatic reset of the UK-France relationship is 'not high on anyone's agenda'.
"There's a lot to be done in getting the full potential of the UK-France relationship on track. The politics of the last eight years have dented the relationship, but France is one of a handful of countries that is sincerely a strategic partner. France is sincerely a country where we need a deep and broad relationship. It serves both of our interests."
